Sworn In for Second Term as State Treasurer

JACKSON, Miss. – David McRae was sworn in for a second term as State Treasurer of Mississippi.

“I am incredibly proud to serve another term as your State Treasurer,” said McRae. “Our team worked hard over the last four years to deliver real results to Mississippi. The state’s credit rating has grown stronger, companies chose our communities for investment, Mississippi’s Rainy Day Fund reached historic levels, and our debt was reduced. Certainly, this was not all my doing, but I was proud to be on the team that produced these results for you.”

As State Treasurer, McRae has overseen three consecutive years of record-breaking unclaimed money returns. In total, more than $85 million has been returned to Mississippians.

His College Savings Mississippi team has also helped hundreds of families mitigate student loans, while the financial policies he fought for helped right MPACT’s finances, putting solvency within grasp.

During his tenure as Treasurer, McRae has been selected by his peers to serve on the Board of Directors for both the National Association of State Treasurers and the National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers. Governor Tate Reeves also appointed McRae to the Balanced Budget Interstate Compact.

“There is more work to do, and the term ahead will almost certainly be filled with challenges yet unknown, but I am excited to get back to work. Before I do, I want to take a moment to say thank you to my family, staff, and all Mississippians for your support, prayers, and guidance,” said McRae. “Serving as your State Treasurer has been the honor of a lifetime. I look forward to another four years of service.”
