Seven Students Score Scholarships from State Treasury during MHSAA Football Championships

The Mississippi Treasury awarded seven high schoolers $3,500 worth of scholarship money during this weekend’s MHSAA Football Championships. Each student took home a $500 scholarship in the form of a Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) account.

“Students with a college savings account are four times more likely to go to college than their counterparts without,” said State Treasurer David McRae. “I am proud we were able to kickstart the savings of these seven students, and I hope the scholarships will inspire them to pursue a degree of their choice that will keep them well-employed here in Mississippi. For those who didn’t take home a scholarship, please consider starting a college savings fund of your own at Treasury.MS.gov/CollegeSavings. Congratulations to all the winners.”

The winners of the 2021 Tuition Toss are:

  • William McNair, Prentiss
  • Zaria Keyes, Bay Springs
  • Taylor Moreland, Pearl
  • Kheston Dumas, Hattiesburg
  • Steele Sheasby, Carriere
  • Hunter Brunson, Picayune
