Treasurer David McRae Launches 2020 College Savings Mississippi Art Contest
Mississippi State Treasurer David McRae today launched the 2020 College Savings Mississippi Art Contest. Students from pre-K through 12th Grade are eligible to enter. Contest winners will receive a scholarship worth up to $529 in the form of a Mississippi Affordable College Savings (MACS) account.
“I am excited to announce this year’s College Savings Mississippi Art Contest,” said McRae. “Art is about invention and experimentation; it’s about seeing the ordinary from a new perspective and learning from our mistakes. These skill sets are the same ones required to succeed in higher education and the workforce. I look forward to seeing the hard work and creativity of Mississippi’s young people and am hopeful the winning scholarships will serve as a launching pad for recipients to pursue an education of their choice.”
The contest period begins on February 12, 2020, and ends on March 31, 2020. Mississippi students are asked to create a work of art answering the question: “What do you want to be when you grow up?”
